FAQ

What is the Giving List Women Book?

Our national publication, The Giving List Women (GLW) will elevate the successful practices of those moving the needle for women and girls locally, nationally, and globally. Comprised of profiles, features, and vignettes of trailblazing leaders across diverse sectors, alongside featured nonprofits – and impact companies – the book highlights those who are innovating, disrupting the status quo, incrementally evolving, and even succeeding through failure. Stories that inform us how they are enabling women and girls to thrive; stories that help us imagine the solutions that are possible, and above all else; stories that inspire the impact community to take bold action that address our complex global challenges. GLW aims to give donors and funders the justification for viewing women and girls as a lens and not a lane in philanthropy.

How can I get a copy of the book?

If you would like to receive a complimentary copy of the inaugural Giving List Women publication, please submit your details here. LIST is an acronym for “Let’s ignite something transformational” and we need you – our readers – to do just that!

What Can I Expect At the Giving List Women Summit?

The Book will be brought to life at the GLW Summit. This intimate convening of 175+ philanthropic and impact leaders from around the world creates a network of networks which can join forces to strengthen and push out the narrative around intersectional feminist philanthropy. Together we can  broaden the tent of donors who understand that women and girls must become a lens through which giving occurs. Because when women and girls thrive, we all win – boys and men included.  Currently less than 2% of all philanthropic dollars go toward organizations that primarily focus on women and girls. We aim to increase this percentage by moving billions of dollars toward these organizations.

When and where is the Summit being held?

The inaugural Giving List Women Summit will be held at various locations in Montecito, California on the evening of Thursday, April 25 and all day Friday, April, 26, 2024. The majority of the events will take place at private homes. If you are participating in or attending the Summit you will receive precise location details once you register.

How do I attend the Summit?

The GLW Summit is by invitation only with a guest list curated with our partners. If you would like to be added to the waitlist or wish to be invited in future years please email: support@thegivinglist.com

May I bring a guest?

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any attendees other than those who have been formally invited.

I have accessibility needs. Who do I reach out to?

GLW is striving to make the summit as inclusive as possible. Please reach out to support@thegivinglist.com to discuss your specific needs.

What are the guidelines around COVID?

Events will be held both indoor and outdoor. Masks will not be required at any time. If you have additional questions about this please reach out to support@thegivinglist.com and check government guidelines closer to the Summit date.

Where should we stay in Montecito?

Montecito is a small, nine square mile community and right next-door to the City of Santa Barbara. There are plenty of wonderful accommodations in and around Montecito. No room blocks are available this year but here are our recommended choices – Click Here.

What is the transportation plan?

Attendees will have access to shuttles to and from the main venues. If you live locally, or local-adjacent, and plan to bring your vehicle, on Friday April 26th, you will be asked to drive only to the hotel hubs at which shuttles will bring attendees to the event location. For Thursday’s (April 25) opening event, parking will be available at the Music Academy or through our dedicated transportation hotel hubs. Click here for more details on transportation.

Will there be parking at transportation hubs?

Yes and no. Click here for more details on transportation.

Should I hire a car?

GLW is planning to transport all guests to and from the main venues via shuttle. Should you require/prefer a car, parking will not be available at every site. Please consult the transportation plan.

Can I Uber/Lyft/Taxi to the Summit?

Yes. Addresses and instructions will be provided at a later date.

What is the weather like in April?

April is one of the loveliest times of the year in Montecito. Average temperatures are in the mid-70s during the day and high-50s at night. It has not rained in Montecito on April 25th or 26th for the last 30 years. That said, mother nature tends to be a rule breaker so it’s always good to be prepared. We advise you to check the weather before deciding what clothing you will want to bring.

What is the dress code?

We want you to feel comfortable and sensational in whatever you wear. We trust that you know how to dress. That said, pack layers as the events will be both inside and outside. Also be mindful of your footwear as the outdoor events are on varied terrain (grass, gravel, grated flooring, hardscape, etc). The evening event will provide an opportunity to dress like you feel $8.8 billion bucks* if you so choose.

* This is the amount of philanthropic funding currently directed toward women’s and girls’ organizations in the U.S., representing just 1.8% of all philanthropic dollars.

What if I have Dietary Restrictions?

Not to worry. As part of the registration process you will be able to list any and all allergies and/or restrictions. GLW staff will update all chefs and caterers with this information.

I am from out of town. Where do I fly into?

Santa Barbara Airport is the closest airport and we recommend flying directly into Santa Barbara. LAX is about two hours South of Montecito. For guests who do not want to rent a car, the Santa Barbara Airbus is a cost-effective way to get from LAX to Santa Barbara.

I want to move the needle and sponsor this movement. How do I do that?

We invite a select number of companies to collaboratively design a unique partnership and memorable brand experience that elevates what makes your company or foundation extraordinary. We seek partners who are committed to improving our planet and supporting the people on it; understand that ethical business is successful business; and appreciate storytelling as one of the most powerful tools we have as humans to engage the world. If this sounds like you, please reach out to us to discuss (limited) opportunities for the 2024 Summit or future collaborations.

May I be a Summit speaker?

Our speakers for this year have already been determined with our partners. However, it is our intention to have many opportunities to continue the dialogue through this network of networks.  Please Reach out to Janine to learn about future opportunities, inclusive of the Summit and Giving List Women podcast (late 2024).

What are your guidelines for social media?

The GLW Summit is a time to meaningfully connect and be present with other humans. As much of the event will take place at private homes with their own security concerns, we ask that any photographs that you take are not shared on social media. We will have dedicated photo opportunities with professional photographers throughout the events to capture your involvement.

Are there designated smoking areas?

This is a smoke-free gathering.

I have a question that isn’t answered. Who do I reach out to?

You guessed it! Support@thegivinglist.com
